The Sin of Standing Aside

Obadiah condemns Edom for standing apart while Jerusalem suffered. Their passivity made them like those who attacked. This verse warns us that indifference can become participation in evil. God calls His people not only to avoid doing harm, but to love, defend, and show mercy when others are wounded. When suffering is near, may we not stand on the other side, but move toward compassion and faithfulness.
