Fading Riches, Lasting God

James reminds us that earthly splendor is fragile. Like grass scorched by the rising sun, wealth, status, and beauty can fade quickly. This is not meant to make us despair, but to teach us where to place our hope. The rich person fades in his pursuits when those pursuits are all he has. But the soul anchored in God rests in what cannot wither.
