Envy and Holy Attention

Joseph’s brothers responded to his dreams with envy, but his father kept the matter in mind. Not every word from God is immediately understood, and not every calling is welcomed by others. Envy can blind the heart, while patient observation leaves room for God’s work to unfold. When something is unclear, we can resist jealousy and instead ponder prayerfully what the Lord may be doing.
