When Treachery Enters the City

Jeremiah records a dark moment of betrayal and violence. Men entered the city unsuspecting, and Ishmael slaughtered them and cast them into a pit. Scripture does not hide human evil; it brings it into the light before God. Such verses teach us to grieve sin honestly and to reject deceit, ambition, and cruelty.
