Called by God’s Purpose

Before Jacob and Esau were born, before either had done good or evil, God’s purpose according to election stood. Paul lifts our eyes from human merit to divine calling. Salvation rests not on works, but on the God who calls. This truth humbles pride and steadies faith. Our hope is not that we first reached God, but that His gracious purpose reached us before we could boast.
