Religion Comes to Examine Jesus

The Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem and gathered around Jesus. Their presence signals religious scrutiny, but also reveals a deeper tension: human tradition often resists the living authority of Christ. It is possible to be near sacred things and still miss the heart of God. This verse invites humble self-examination. Do we approach Jesus to learn, surrender, and be changed, or merely to measure Him by our expectations?
