Abimelech’s plea shows a conscience awakened before the Lord. Though caught in a dangerous situation, he appeals to God’s justice and his own lack of intent. This verse reminds us that God sees more than outward circumstances; He knows motives, ignorance, and integrity. Yet it also teaches us to listen when God warns us. A tender conscience is a mercy, guiding us away from sin and toward righteousness.
