When Affliction Takes Hold

Job describes his soul as poured out and his days seized by affliction. Scripture does not hide the heaviness of suffering; it gives words for it. When pain overwhelms us, God does not demand polished prayers. He receives honest lament from wounded hearts. Job’s cry reminds us that faith can ache and still turn toward God. In affliction, the Lord remains near to the poured-out soul.
