Guard the Doctrine of Christ

John’s warning is not about being unkind, but about being faithful. Love must never become careless with truth. Those who deny the doctrine of Christ are not to be welcomed as spiritual teachers or encouraged in their error. A warm heart still needs a watchful spirit. Christ’s people show love by protecting the household of faith from voices that lead souls away from Him.
